Suzlon Foundation plants 55,000 saplings in Ananthpur, Andhra Pradesh

  • Part of the ‘Barren hillocks afforestation program’ where 55,000 saplings were planted
  • Tree Plantation undertaken during 67thVan Mahotsav in Ananthpur
  • Witnessed Participation from Local administration, Students and Suzlon employees
Ananthpur, India: Suzlon Foundation planted 55,000 saplings in Ellutla, Vajrakrur and Vidapanakal villages during the ongoing 67th Van Mahotsav in Ananthpur, Andhra Pradesh. Suzlon Foundation is supported by Suzlon Group and this activity is aligned to the Group’s vision of ‘Powering a greener tomorrow’. The ‘Plantation and Seed broadcasting’ is a part of ‘Barren Hillocks Afforestation Program’. The activity was conducted from 1st to 3rd September in collaboration with District Administration,Suzlon team, District Watershed Management Authority (DWMA) and Social Forestry department. The initiative also witnessed participation of students from Saraswathi Vidya Mandir School.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. B Venkataramana, Divisional Forest officer (Social Forestry Divison)-Ananthapur, “The District administration – Ananthapur has taken significant steps for improving vegetation in entire Ananthpur district. We are glad to see corporates such as Suzlon are extending their support and adopting the barren hills for afforestation as per District administration directions. We will extend our support for upcoming years too. This project is in right direction to make Ananthpur as ‘Green Anatha’. We firmly believe that such projects will be successful only with the participation of all the person concerned”. Dr.Jasmine Sofia Gogia, General Manager, Suzlon Foundation said, “The initiative is a step towards improving the green cover in Anathpur and is aligned to our vision. The 67th Van Mahotsav is a testament to growing global movement for sustainable environmental solutions. This drive is a small step towards mitigating the climate change and to improve the tree canopy of our neighbourhood and state.
