Suzlon receives 42.5 MW Spain order
Mumbai: Suzlon Wind Energy AS, the Europe and Latin America marketing arm of
Suzlon Energy Limited - the worldâs 5th largest wind turbine manufacturer* further
consolidated its position in the Spanish wind energy market with an order for 42.5 MW
of wind turbine capacity. The contract is to be supplied through 22 units of Suzlonâs
S88 â 2.1 MW turbines.
Speaking on the order, Mr. Erik Winter Pedersen, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy AS,

Renovables SRC and Iniciativas Energéticas S.A. We have a winning combination with
Suzlonâs EPC experience in large, successful wind projects around the world and the
clientâs considerable experience in the Spanish energy market.â
The customer is a company with Eolia Renovables SRC S.A., as major shareholder and
Iniciativas Energéticas S.A., subsidiary in renewable of the Huarte family group, as
minority shareholder, and has relied on Suzlon the turn-key erection of the wind farm
Jerez (42.5 MW), installing 22 units of the S88 - 2.1 MW turbine, foreseen to start-up
in 2008.

Spain has an installed capacity exceeding 11,000 MW* and is estimated to have yearly
installations from 2008-2011 around 2000 MW. Renewable energy has strong national
support â with a target of achieving installations of 20155 MW by 2010. Spain is also
expected to adopt the EU target for RE of 20% in 2020.**
