Suzlon ventured into the Chinese market through the company Suzlon Energy (Tianjin) Limited in 2006. This wholly foreign-owned enterprise was set up with the strategic intent of providing support in activities including research and development of wind power technology, production and sales of wind power generators, related equipment and spare parts; design and construction of wind power factories; and technology consulting services.

Suzlon has already installed projects totaling 929 MW and 671 wind turbines in China.
